RUBY

WHAT IS A RUBY?

Ruby, part of ' the great four' right next to diamond emerald and sapphire, this gemstone with its luscious red color is one of the rarest types of gemstones found on Earth. The color of the ruby comes from the traces of chromium. It measured 9 on the Mohs Scale of Hardness, the closest to diamond which makes this stone very hard and durable.

ONE OF A KIND

Rubies are known to be the rarest gemstone on Earth, hence the price tag is quite high. What sets apart rubies from one another is their color. The deeper the color, the higher the value. You have most likely heard of Pigeon Blood Rubies – these have very deep red color with a blue hue which makes the red color appear even more vibrant. There are also rubies that come with an affordable price tag and are not any lesser in appearance – with different subtones, like yellow -  the stone will have a lighter red color, or a pinkish hue still making it unique and true to your taste if you choose so.

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR RUBY JEWELRY?

Avoid using harsh cleaning treatments such as ultrasonic cleaners and steamers or chemicals for rubies. The best method of cleaning a jewelry piece with a ruby is to use warm soapy water and a soft brush or cloth. Make sure your ruby jewelry is completely dry before wearing or storing. It is preferable to store it in a velveteen bag.
